William Djoko’s entire persuasion emits pure charisma. A performance that is just as formidable as it is eclectic, William elates a plexus of energy between himself and the crowd each and every time. His DJ Sets are forever experiential, moving from groove-laden house to rugged motor-city techno (sprinkled with his famed frisky footwork, of course) while his productions don the same eclectic charm: flirting between playful, cut for the club and trippy, mischievous percussion.  It’s a unique approach to his artistry that is by far the pinnacle of his success thus far. Labels like Rush Hour, Voyage Direct and Tuskegee have all had their own sonic slice, with NYC based label Strictly Rhythm releasing the ever tantalising ‘OMG’ and Desolat donning ‘Out of Reach’, William’s collab with label boss and good friend Loco Dice – the record was released on Dice’s LP ‘Love Letters’ earlier this year. The futuristic sound can also be heard on William’s latest release ‘Whiplash’, a funk-inflected dance weapon that debuts as the very first record on William’s brand new imprint DJOKO Records.

The record will be a weighty addition to his current arsenal, one that also includes a prolific DJ schedule. The last few years has seen William play a veritable who’s who of clubbing and festival hot spots the world over from DC10, Printworks and fabric to Dekmantel, Junction 2 and Oasis Festival. He also holds residencies with the likes of LWE (London) - with whom he launched William’s Wonderful Weekend, an epic weekender of all things wonderfully William including four shows in London (including two sets Tobacco Dock and an after party b2b with Loco Dice at Shoreditch Platform) as well as Shelter (Amsterdam), where he’s played alongside the likes of Virgil Abloh, Mr G, Black Coffee and KiNK. Both of these prop up perhaps the most influential - his regular spot at the legendary Circoloco, playing at DC10 as well their parties across the wider world including Tulum, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Paris, where William will join them during Paris Fashion Week this year.

In fact, fashion is just another weapon in William’s armoury. In September of last year, he collaborated with Vogue affirmed, leading Moroccan fashion designer Amine Bendriouich for an editorial shoot during Oasis Festival while other features and collaborations include Vogue Netherlands, Absolute Vodka and Amsterdam streetwear outlet Basketstores.

So with an abundance of new music in the pipeline, a new record label, a fruitful diary, new and exciting collaborations and the promise of worldwide roll out of William’s Wonderful Weekend it seems the Amsterdam based producer is truly flourishing as a sensation in the scene. Watch this space.
